Rules for North American Chinese Archery Tournament

Equipment Rules
- Release method: thumb draw only.
- Bow: no shelf, no sight, no stabilizer.
- Arrows: any shaft/fletching material permitted; no broadheads.
General Rules
- Bounce-outs do not count as hits. No retries.
Short Distance (Beginners)
- 40-cm 5-ring target, ~10 yards , 3 arrows per end, 4 ends.
- Scoring: Yellow (2), Red/Blue/Black (1), Miss/White (0).
- Highest score wins. Tie-breaker ends if needed.
Multi-Stance (Advanced)
- 40-cm 5-ring target, ~10 yards , 3 arrows per end, 5 ends.
- 1st end: any standing position
- 2nd end: frontal stance (both feet parallel and toes facing towards target)

- 3rd end: reverse stance (both feet parallel and toes facing away from target)

- 4th end: kneeling (at least 1 knee on the ground)

- 5th end: any standing position
- For any stance, always nock with arrow facing target.
- Scoring: Yellow (2), Red/Blue/Black (1), Miss/White (0).
- Highest score wins. Tie-breaker ends if needed.
Three Dot
- Three targets w/ 4”-diameter yellow dot, ~10 yards, 3 arrows per end, 4 ends.
- Scoring: 1 pt for each dot target hit (multiple hits on same dot count as 1 hit).
- Highest score wins. Tie-breaker ends if needed.
Long Distance
- Qing-style target (80” x 30”), 50 meters, 3 arrows per end, 3 ends.
- Scoring: Hit (1), Miss (0).
- Highest score wins. Tie-breaker ends if needed.
Speed Shooting
- Two 40-cm targets (left and right), ~10 yards, 6 arrows per end, 2 ends.
- Alternate between left and right targets (shoot L-R-L-R-L-R).
- Archer must start with all arrows in quiver or belt (no arrows in hand).
- Archer's final time is fastest out of each end.
- Black-ring and in is considered a hit.
- Fastest time wins. 3 second penalty for each missed arrow.
Piercing Power
- Rinehart Rhino Block target, ~3--5 yards, 1 arrow per end, 2 ends.
- Separate divisions
- 40# limit (must report for 8:30 am weigh-in)
- 60# limit (must report for 8:30 am weigh-in)
- Unlimited (no weigh-in required)
Participants must report for bow weigh-in by 8:30 am or else will be entered in "Unlimited" by default.
- May use same or different equipment on each end.
- No broadheads.
- Qualifying arrow must hit target’s core insert in areas that were not previously struck. (If you hit a previously struck spot, the depth is recorded as 0".)
- Piercing depth measures length of portion of arrow that has entered the bale (including arrowhead).
- Archer's final piercing depth is maximum out of each end.
- Greatest piercing depth wins.
Team Ritual Match
- 2 Teams drawn at random.
- Qing-style target (80” x 30”), 50 meters, 2 arrows per end, 1 end.
- Scoring: Hit (1), Miss (0).
- Losing team drinks ritual beverage.
Team Heckling Match
- Same teams from Team Ritual match.
- Qing-style target (80” x 30”), 50 meters, 2 arrows per end, 1 end.
- Scoring: Hit (1), Miss (0).
- Heckling permitted, but no physical contact or personal insults.
- Losing team drinks ritual beverage.
